MIldred E. McDaniel

Mildred Ellen (Myers) McDaniel passed at the age of 96, on April 28, 2025, in Bakersfield, California.

Mildred was born in Pueblo, Colorado to Guy B. Myers and Julia V. (Williams) Myers. She spent much of her childhood in Rye, Colorado with her beloved uncle and aunt, Bill and Alberta Williams. She loved the freedom of country living, riding horses and drawing them.

Mildred married James “Jimmy” McDaniel upon his return from the U.S. Army in 1947. They resided in the Rye area for a short while; and helped at her father’s highway establishment; Apache City; which was located at the junction of County Rd 660 and I-25.

In 1955, she moved to Coalinga, CA. with her husband and three children, where she worked as a Telephone Operator for AT&T for 17 years. She enjoyed painting and joined the Coalinga Art Association. Her one true delight was going home to Colorado or attending an occasional family reunion.

With the arrival of her first grandchild, she was thereafter known as Nana. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crime mysteries and spy thrillers. After retirement, they moved to Bakersfield, CA. in 1987.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, James; her sister, Marian E. Wright; and her youngest son, James Mark McDaniel.

She is survived by her remaining children; James Brett (Jeannine) McDaniel of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA., daughter Randi (Rod) Reinhardt of Bakersfield, CA., five grandchildren; Calen and Jansen (Kendall) Wood, Megan, Logan and Kyle McDaniel; five great grandchildren, Madison (Tyler), Carson, Amelia, Parker, Hunter; and one great-great grandson; Graham. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, along with her Colorado cousins, Neppie Williams and Buzz (Paula) Williams.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 16, 2025 in the Brookside Cemetery in Rye, Colorado.
