Mel retired from CF&I Steel Corp. as a General Foreman in the Tube Mill.  He also owned and operated Ward and Sons Auto.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Grace, the mother of their children whom all survive, Preston (Nancy), Melvin Jr (Eleanor) and Donna (Mike) Hasenack; his grandchildren, Michael, Andrea, Matthew, Steven (Rachel), Nick (Rebecca) Paul, Kristen (Ty), Michael (Lexi)  and Jake (Morgan); 7 great grandchildren.  Also survived by his current wife Dorothy and his step-daughter Connie.    

Per his request, no viewing, cremation.  A private family service will be held. 

The family extends a heartfelt thanks to Pueblo Care Center, New Century Hospice and Cornerstone Caregiving.  You were my saving grace on this difficult journey.  God Bless all of you that gave me and  my husband your care, concern and compassion.
