John Robert Flugstad

On October 28, 2023, John Robert Flugstad unexpectedly passed away.  John was born on February 10, 1945, in Hayden, Colorado, as the second child of John and Grace Flugstad.  John also known as Robert graduated from West High School in Billings, Montana in 1963 and went on to pursue a degree in Accounting from the University of Montana. It was during this time that John joined the US Navy and served aboard the aircraft carrier the USS Constellation.  He remained a proud member of the US Navy throughout the remainder of his life.

John spent many years managing a variety of businesses throughout his career and retired as an employee of the Colorado Workforce Center in Pueblo.  After his retirement, John became a guide boat pilot at the Arkansas Riverwalk in Pueblo and found this to be the most rewarding for him at that point in his life.  He loved to share the story of Pueblo and connect with the guests that embarked upon the riverboat tours.  He looked forward to every opportunity he had to promote Pueblo and the Riverwalk experience. 

John was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Ronald Flugstad.   His survivors include his sister Joan Decker and brother Randall Flugstad.

The family will hold a Celebration of John’s Life at the Riverwalk at 1:00 PM on Sunday, November 12th.     His cremains will be interred in the family plot in the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Billings, Montana at a later date.
