Fred Falk

Fred Falk  passed away peacefully in his home on September 27, 2022.   He was born to James and Josephine Ireland Falk on July 13, 1933.  He married his childhood sweetheart, Myrna Bowdino on July 19, 1953.  Fred is survived by his wife, Myrna; son, Rod (Beth) Falk; daughters, Sheryl Hanisch and Richelle (Ron) Kelly and grandchildren, Russell (Hayla) Shrout, Brandon Falk, Owen (Michelle) Shrout, Brock (Katie) Falk, Shea (Justin) Pyfrom and Kalyn (Tyler) Kelley, as well as 6 great grandchildren.  Fred’s grandchildren and great grandchildren were the highlight of his days. 

Fred served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 and then returned to La Veta where he spent his life ranching, running a dairy, being a sales representative for MoorMan’s Feed, owning Front Range Petroleum and serving his community.  He served on the La Veta School Board for many years and was instrumental in establishing the EMTs and the La Veta Fire Protection District.  Fred was a proud member of the La Veta Masonic Lodge #59 for 70 years.   

Cremation has taken place.   Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at the La Veta Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Roger Brunelli Gym.  If inclement weather, the services will be moved to the Roger Brunelli Gym.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in memory of Fred be made to the La Veta Fire Protection District, Sangre de Cristo Hospice, the La Veta Masonic Lodge #59 or to the charity of your choice.
