Gene Hughes

Eugene “Gene” Reed Hughes, 87, went to be with the Lord on January 17, 2021.  Gene was born in Kim, Colorado on May 26, 1933.   Preceded in death by his parents, John Albert and Ola Mildred Hughes, brothers Paul Hughes, Curtis Hughes and Glen “Clyde” Hughes and Doris his wife of 63 years.  Survived by children Michael (Marlene) Hughes and Sheryl (Chris) Trask; grandchildren Brian (Daisy) Hughes, Megan (Scott) Brown, Christina (Jack) Eddy and Stephen (Shaunna) Trask and nine great grandchildren. 

Gene was a member of Heritage Baptist Church.  He served as a deacon, usher and Sunday school teacher at various churches throughout his life.  “Gene the Barber” retired from barbering after 57 years, a majority of which was at the Southside King Soopers.  Gene loved to tell stories about his many adventures and life’s experiences. 

Gene will be greatly missed by his family and friends.  Memorial service will be held at Heritage Baptist Church 2122 Overton Road in Pueblo on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 10:00 am.  Online condolences at DavisMortuary.com
