Ernest Romero

Ernest Romero, 96, passed away July 29, 2022 in Pueblo.  Ernie retired from GMAC as Accounting Manager and was a veteran of the US Navy having served during WWII. He was recognized as one of the ten Central High graduates who joined the Navy together upon graduation in 1944 and were pictured in the Pueblo and Denver newspapers.  Ernie was a life member of BPOE #90 and the American Legion.  He established the Louise and Ernest Romero St. Mary Corwin Nurse Scholarship Fund in 2000, which continues to help students become nurses. 

Ernie was preceded in death by his father, Alfred; mother, Frances (Spiller); wife, Louise (Evans); brothers, James and Arthur.  He is survived by his brother Henry (Sue) Romero.  The family would like to thank the staff of Sharmar Assisted Living Facility for their dedicated care and concern of Ernie during those difficult final days, especially Marco.  Also Abode Hospice and Naomi for their attention and care. 

Funeral service, 11 am on Thursday, Aug 4, 2022 in the Davis Memorial Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Roselawn Cemetery with military honors by the Pueblo Veterans Ritual Team. 

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Mary Corwin Health Foundation.
