DOROTHY LOU RICKMAN, was born in St. Francis, Kansas on November 27, 1931 and passed away in Pueblo, Colorado on January 15, 2023. Dorothy (Dot as she was affectionately known) was a Pueblo resident since the age of 5 after the family began the trek across the country searching for work during the great depression. The Pueblo Steel Mill helped the family put their roots down. Dorothy married and raised a family, worked as a manager of food services for District 60, and was a business owner, running Dot’s Bake Shop for many years. She loved to bake, garden, sew, read, paint, build things, travel, and spend time with family. Later in life, she volunteered as an election judge and worked at many food banks. Dorothy was a kind and generous person that never met a stranger. All that knew her, remembered her with a smile.
Dot was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Jane Queen; husbands, Dale Rickman and Edward Duran; daughters, Donna Nance and Gwen Burner, son-in-law, John Nance; great grandchildren, Antonio “Tony” Cesario, Noelle Kaufman, Lane and Avery Rickman, and her five siblings.
Mrs. Rickman is survived by her son, Douglas Rickman; 7 grandchildren (and spouses/partners); 9 great grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
At her request, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
