Doris J. Nigh

Doris Jeanne Reynolds Nigh passed away April 25, 2023 at home in Colorado City, Colorado.  She was born March 7, 1935 in Denver, Colorado, the sixth of 10 children,  to Alan and Mary Alice Lloyd.

Doris enjoyed talking to and teaching people how to and also being an Amway Direct. She also enjoyed the C.B. radio and that’s how she met Melvin Nigh.  They married 2 years later.  Together they played the accordion and the organ.  Doris played by ear!   They started selling rubber stamps. As the business grew, new products were introduced including papers and embossing powers and over the next  14-15 years they hit stamp conventions in 12 states.  As the stamp business began to decline and they were introduced to BLING. It started by buying a few designs and teaching people how they could iron the designs on at home.  With some of the designs from the rubber stamps they learned how also to make our own patterns and custom orders.  This was a very time consuming project using tweezers to place the crystals and different shapes of the metals before they could be placed on garments.

Melvin and Doris shared a love of travel and that led to joining some R.V. groups including; Family Motor Coach Association, Family Campers RVers, Good Sam’s, Escapees and Fleetwood RVs.  They attended private, local, state, national and international rallies.  By having their display set up at many shows for incoming RV groups they were often invited to stay for their rally.  Together they enjoyed all of the traveling, camping and seeing sites that they otherwise would not have gotten to do.  Some years they logged 28,000 to 30,000 miles in 19-21 states. At times they teamed up with special friends Larry and Marchia Yarberry so they could hit as many shows as possible.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents Alan and Mary Alice Lloyd; her sisters, Carol Hudson and Sharon Ackerman; her brothers Alan, Norman, Johnny, Donald and Duane as well as an infant son Duane Reynolds.   She is survived by  Dan (Barbara) Lloyd, Greg (Cindi) Lloyd; sons, Steve (Joyce) Reynolds, Randy Reynolds, Larry (Cindy) Reynolds, Mark Nigh, Misty Burger, Troy Nigh and Melvin Nigh; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
