Robert L. Hendricks

Robert L. Hendricks of Ogallala, Nebraska departed this life on August 7th, 2008 at the Medical Center of Aurora, Colorado. Robert was predeceased by his son, Dennis L. Hendricks. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Janette Hendricks and his two daughters Kim Nguyen (Long) of Virginia Beach, VA and Janice Bassett (John) of Pueblo, CO and four grandchildren: Kelsey, Abigail, Taylor and Jared. Robert was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He attended Wayne State College studying mathematics and labor relations. Prior to moving to Ogallala in 1973, he worked at National Transit. He was a member of the Teamsters Union. After moving to Nebraska, he worked for Consolidated Freightways and co-owned and operated the Western Paradise Motel for 29 years. He was an active member of the Optimist Club and The Elk’s Club for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman having a love to hunt and fish. He also loved football and coached youth baseball and football. His daughters wrote that “Dad’s generosity and kind heart were an inspiration to his family. He lived his life with integrity and bravery.” At his and the family’s request there will be no public memorial service. Arrangements and cremation have been handled by the Cotter Family’s Davis Mortuary of Pueblo, Colorado.
