Richard Tim Chavez passed away on August 9, 2008 at his home in Pueblo. Tim was born March 1, 1937, the youngest of eight children to Daniel and Adelina Chavez. Tim was a lifelong Pueblo resident and worked at the Colorado State Home and Training School until his retirement. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church where he found a place to contribute in many ways and found a comforting and supportive church family. He enjoyed the outdoors, golfing and camping but loved his family the most, especially “his babies” as he referred to his grandchildren Dylan and Shelby. Tim was preceded in death by his parents, son Richard T. “Rick” Chavez Jr., his brothers Ray, Dan, John and Tom and sisters, Leta, Mary and Della. His survivors include the love of his life, his wife Elizabeth “Liz” Chavez, his children; Kevin Chavez, of Pueblo, Karla (Mark) Greeley, of Black Forest, and Matt (Debbie) Dunich, of Pueblo, his stepchildren; Scott (Betty) Fenwick, Tracy (Tony) Bruce and Chris (Annette) Fenwick, as well as 7 grandchildren; Dylan and Shelby Greeley, Eva, Gabrielle, Tyler and Halie Dunich and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives including his special friend and former wife Violet Chavez. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 in the King of Kings Lutheran Church, 2561 Vinewood Lane with Rev. Mark J. Crates officiating. Private inurnment will be in the Imperial Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions in memory of Tim be made to King of Kings Lutheran Church, 2561 Vinewood Lane, Pueblo, Colorado 81005.
