Dorothy J. Carpenter, passed away peacefully at home on July 15, 2008. Dorothy was born on May 2, 1924 in Paullina, Iowa to Ben and Ella Hellmann. She graduated from Paullina High School and received her Bachelor’s degree from Coe College in Iowa. After moving to Colorado Springs she worked for Braniff Airways and was a substitute teacher. In 1966, Dorothy, Harry and their children moved to Pueblo where she has resided since. Dorothy owned and operated Scott Travel Service and enjoyed her many travels. She was an avid Denver Bronco fan, collected Holstein cows and enjoyed knitting and needlecraft. Dorothy was very proud of her children and dearly loved her grandchildren. Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harry, and her sister Margaret Fee. Her survivors include her children Ben (Cherry) Carpenter and Barbara (Phil) Mascioli, her grandchildren, Jason (Sharon), Candice (Ric), Jonathan, Matthew and Irene, her brother Clifford Hellmann, her sister Gladys Cunningham as well as several nieces and nephews. Her family would like to thank Dr. Guy Kemling for his special care. No viewing, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 20, 2008 in the King of Kings Lutheran Church, 2561 Vinewood Lane, with Rev. Mark J. Crates officiating. Her ashes will be laid to rest with her husband Harry in the Imperial Memorial Gardens at a later date.
