JoAnn Louise Gillespie

JoAnn Louise Gillespie, 77, passed away February 2, 2014 in Pueblo, CO. She was born November 4, 1936 in Wheatland, Wyoming, to Clifford and Evelyn (Preuit) Walter. JoAnn graduated Wheatland High School in 1954. On December 9, 1957, she married Edwin Gillespie in Taos, New Mexico. JoAnn enjoyed sewing, solitaire, genealogy, and writing. She recently finished “Shadows of Wyoming” recounting her memories of growing up in Wyoming. But most of all she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. JoAnn is survived by ex-husband Edwin; sister Mary Etta Dannar of Wheatland; sons Rick, Ron, Roger (Vera), and daughter-in-law Lisa; grandchildren Jayson, Cory, Cris, Bryan, Ethan, and Amanda; great-grandchildren Jayden, Elijah, and Emma; and great-niece JoLynn Gaddis. She was preceded in death by her parents; son US Air Force MSgt Randy Gillespie, killed in action in Afghanistan in 2007, ensuring the freedom and liberty of all Americans; great-grandson Timothy (TJ); and niece Lynn Kissel. Mom was a kind gentle spirit who never said a bad word about anyone. Special thanks to the nursing staff at St. Mary Corwin Medical Center, who gave excellent care over the years, and Doctors Stein and Low, compassionate physicians whose care brought many extra years of happiness. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014, at First United Methodist Church in Pueblo, CO. Interment will be at 2:00 at the Coaldale Cemetery in Coaldale, CO. Flowers may be sent to Davis Mortuary, 128 Broadway Ave., Pueblo, CO 81004.
