William R. Schaefer

William R. Schaefer, 70, of Pueblo, made his transition peacefully on Nov. 23, 2013. William R. Schaefer He was born Dec. 26, 1942, in Syracuse, N.Y., to Victor and Marie Schaefer, both of whom preceded him in death. Bill received his B.S. and M.S. in education from State University of New York, Oswego, in 1967. He was a teacher of history, geography, psychology, political science, and also a counselor of junior high school students in Clark County School District in Las Vegas, Nev., for 25 years. Bill was a runner and placed first, second and third in many 5K and half-marathons. Bill’s hobbies included golf, oil painting and cooking. He was a fabulous Italian cook and enjoyed making his special dishes for family and friends. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Donna Schaefer; stepchildren, Brenda (Dan) Clements, Catherine Hopkins, Hilary Summerfield; grandchildren, Rachel Deveraux, Jason (Stephanie) Clements; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Chloe Deveraux; cousins, Bianca Schaefer, Andrea Bradley, Erik Schaefer; and his best friend, Alan Clabeaux, who will deliver the eulogy at Bill’s request. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Sangre de Cristo Hospice of Pueblo and PAWS for Life. Cremation has taken place.
