Betty Joe Gilmer Paynter passed away May 20, 2008 in Pueblo, Colorado. Mrs. Paynter was born on November 22, 1930 in Harlam, Kentucky to Norton B. Gilmer and Nancy Brown Gilmer. She was a graduate of Winchester High School and received a BA in English, Speech and Dramatic Arts from the University of Kentucky in 1952. She was a homemaker and Teacher’s Assistant at the Speech & Language Development School for handicap children in California. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Clayton. Her survivors include her five children, Mitchell (Risa) Paynter, of Alabama, Steve (Char) Paynter, of Arizona, Cheryl (Bill) Nance, of California, Elizabeth (Don) Rawdon, of Pueblo and Donna (Roberto) Gonzales, of California. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. In loving remembrance, she was a very devoted wife and mother who has given her family a lifetime of cherished memories.
