Murray Lee Pape passed into the Lord’s hands on Feb 11, 2011. He was born in Guyman, OK on Aug 19, 1929. Murray graduated from St. John’s College in Kansas and attended River Forrest Lutheran College in Chicago before teaching school in Kansas City, KS. On Sept 16, 1950 he married Shirleen and they were blessed with three children. He managed McClellans Variety Stores in Kansas and Arizona for ten years before moving to Pueblo in 1960 where he worked for Pueblo Fire Equipment. He soon became the merchandise manager for Crews Beggs and in 1975 after a stint with Joslins in Denver, Murray spent the next 5 years in Butte and Helena, MT as manager of Hennessys Department Stores before retiring in 1992. Murray enjoyed his Montana home and all the birds and wildlife in the mountains outside of Clancy. Murray was very involved in the Lord’s work at Trinity Lutheran in Pueblo and First Lutheran in Helena, MT. He took great pleasure helping developmentally disabled children. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Alida Pape, siblings Myrtle, Ray, Wyman, Lenice and James and his daughter-in-law, Rochelle. His survivors include his wife Shirleen; children, Vickie (Dean) Trimble, Randy and Ed; his sister, Alida (Charles) Worm; his grandchildren Dylan, Jason and Chantelle as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Cremation has taken place. A private memorial service has been planned. Donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Pueblo, or Sangre de Cristo Hospice, or to the First Lutheran Church in Helena, MT. Online condolences at DavisMortuary.com
